Protocols
A Preface
The ‘awakening journey’ is not an easy one, yet it is most rewarding. Brave souls that dare to venture into this journey often find themselves spiraling back and forth from feelings of ‘have it all together’, to not; and it is in those moments of not feeling ‘togethered’ that instilling daily protocols can provide greate support.
This page is dedicated to information and resources I have found useful in supporting me to stay aligned, centered and sane (especially during times of difficult situations and/or intense ‘shadow-work’). Each person is different, so do take what resonates for you, and discard what does not.
‘Game-Changing’ Books (for me)

My Top Spiritual Teachers & Influencers

Mas Sajady's Exponential Intelligence Medihealings
So this guy is SIMPLY AMAZING and had a significant impact on my awakening journey. I personally call him a Frequency Coach. I synchronistically came upon him through a friend, also a mentor who actually heard Mas speak at a Drunvalo event, and decided to check his program out after watching his speech back in 2015. Wow! Talk about MASSIVELY SHIFTING after taking his frequency 18-Day Medihealing Sessions (back then it was 21). I honestly cannot recommend this guy enough if you are SERIOUSLY READY to make some significant shifts in your life. Just note…YOUR LIFE WILL CHANGE DRAMATICALLY; it will require you to let go of what no longer serves.
Daily Practices

Morning Intentions
Just as we are waking up, and before we put our feet on the ground, is a perfect time to ‘tune into’ our emotional states and set the tone for the day ahead. To do this we may take a few deep breaths to center and set intentions for the type of day we would like to have.

Journaling Dreams
Another practice to do before getting out of bed is to note down any dreams we had while sleeping, preferably in a journal that we keep by our bedside. Dreams are a powerful way to connect to our higher selves and guides, and sometimes give relevant clues to events playing out in the future.

Morning Routine
After hopping out of bed, it’s helpful to have a daily morning routine (ie. making the bed, opening the curtains, etc) that we hold sacred and do mindfully as a way to anchor in the intentions we have set for the day ahead; holding thoughts that support those intentions while doing them.

Mindfully Moving the Body
It is common knowledge that exercise is good for us, yet how many of us use this time to mindfully connect with our bodies and what they are expressing to us? Whether a daily walk, yoga or stretches in the home, we can learn alot by listening to our bodies and what they are saying about our emotional states.

Periodically 'Checking In'
As we go throughout our day, it’s a good practice to have periodic ‘check-ins’ with ourselves to see how well we are living up to those intentions we set in the morning; using these moments to recenter ourselves if we have been thrown ‘off-course’ or honor situations that have aligned to our intentions.

Keeping Things Organized
There is a reason ‘organized’ Virgo is the opposite sign of ‘spiritual Pisces’; in order to be able to ground in messages clearly it is important to have organization in our lives. Not only does it help us keep track of synchronicities, but it also is a reflection of our mental states. Daily routines, organized spaces are super important.

Having a Personal Protocol
There is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ when it comes to daily routines and practices. Incorporating daily rituals that inspire us is really up to each person as we are all unique. Yet, having said this, having one that is sacred to us and us alone is key to creating a solid anchor for ourselves and our journey; one that will always be there no matter what happens.

Honoring Others
The more we awaken, the more we realize there are absolutely no coincidences and everything is beautifully orchestrated, even when it comes to people we encounter. Whether the CEO or the janitor, a friend or a stranger, it is important to note that synchronicities can come from anyone at anytime, and honor everyone as such.

Mindfully Doing Chores
Who said you have to meditate cross-legged in yoga pose? Meditation is simply a state of presence that we actually want to build up to maintaining throughout the day. Turning ‘dredded chores’ into meditative opportunities is a perfect way to start doing this (ie. staying mindful while doing dishes, dusting or even cleaning out the cat litter!).

Daily Gratitude Lists
Having gratitude for the things we do have is super important to keeping our vibration high. This does not have to be for anything major, in fact I find having gratitude for the small things we often overlook can be more power boosting (ie. the chair we like to sit in, food in the pantry, etc.). Incorporating daily gratitude does wonders to our vibrational states.
Body

Lemon Water
Many studies show that drinking lemon water in the morning prior to eating breakfast or having coffee does wonders for our bodies (from giving us a boost of Vitamin C to aiding with digestion and even weight loss). I started doing this years ago, and while I cannot say I have always been consistent, I notice a definitive difference when I remember to.

Apple Cider Vinegar
This has been one of my ‘gotta haves’ for years now (the organic one, with the bits and pieces at the bottom) and for multiples of reasons (to drink diluted in water to purify, boost my immune system when I am feeling ill, use for hair/skin tonics, etc.). Definitely recommend checking out all the benefits and uses if you are not familiar with its healing properities.

Garlic
Another necessary staple in my pantry, I use garlic quite a lot, even when I am feeling under the weather or as part of my energetic protection routine (I think there was a reason behind people using it to ward off vampires…just saying). Outside of cooking, I will cut one clove into about 3 pieces then let it sit for 10 minutes to activate the alliin, then eat it raw with a glass of water.

Ginger
Whether to make Lemon Ginger Honey Tea with, or drink it in a tea on its own, ginger is also part of those ‘must haves’ in my pantry. I also learned a valuable tip from a neighbor that I now incorporate, which is to immediately grate the ginger when I get it from the store and then make icecubes out of it. Whenever I need it, I just plop one of those icecubes in without the hassle of cutting it up each time.

Soothing Teas
I am no ‘aficionado’ on teas, but I do know they have been super supportive during times of stress. I have a few ‘go-tos’ when it comes to ‘triggered states’ and tea is one of them. My personal favorites are Lemon Ginger Honey, Thyme, Anise, and Mint (all natural, not the teabags)…even making the choosing, brewing and pouring parts of the process sacred, I find quite calming.

Fasting/Water Fasting
Once again, I am no ‘aficionado’ on fasting, however I have successfully done water fasting in the past for 3 day spans and have seen AMAZING results. Once you get over day 1 of the fast, you truly find that you have way more energy (I even was able to keep on my jogging schedule) and your mind becomes a lot clearer. Definitely recommend reading up on it if you are looking for a simple way to detoxify.

Daily Exercise/Stretching
Pretty well known, yet worth mentioning. Again, no coincidence that ‘health and fitness’ Virgo is exactly opposite ‘spiritually downloading’ Pisces on the Astrological wheel. Exercise helps us move any stagnant energy that blocks us from receiving in valuable insights and downloads. Whether going for a walk/job, doing yoga, or simple stretching, exercise is key.

Walking Barefoot
If you haven’t gotten a chance to watch ‘The Earthing Movie’, I definitely recommend it! So many benefits to be had with walking barefoot, even outside when it is possible. Now when I feel a bit anxious or uneasy, I find myself naturally wanting to take off my shoes or flipflops to help me center and stabilize.

Home Reflects our Aura
This one was a ‘game-changer’ when I came to realize it. The state of our homes reflects our energetic states, and can also give valuable clues as to what is going on in our personal lives. Super important to organize junk drawers, pay attention to appliances that go faulty, plumbing/electrical issues or even home remodeling projects and connect dots.

Dictionary of Ailments
OMG! I bought the previous edition of this book back in 2016 and it has gone EVERYWHERE I have been since! It has now been updated (I am sure with more entries) and I cannot recommend this enough. Talk about a major ‘game changer’ when it comes to understanding that everything that happens to our bodies is connected to our emotions!

Feeling Ill?
Not only do I first turn to my book ‘The Encyclopedia of Ailments & Diseases’ by Jacques Martel, but depending on what is happening I will make finding natural remedies and meditation my next course of action. Of course, if it is something serious I will seek medical advice, but usually I try to find natural home remedies I can make with herbs and spices from my pantry first.

Breathwork
There is no coincidence that most guided meditations or yoga routines start with regulating the breath. Taking a few deep slow breaths (I like to do a count of 4 seconds in, hold for 4 seconds, 4 slow out, and hold for 4 seconds, then repeat) when we are triggered, anxious, overwhelmed or scattered helps regulate our nervous system and recenter.

Face Yoga
This one is something that recently came to me through a course I did with Danielle Collins on Daily Om, but wow! did I notice the difference and not to mention how expressive we can be with negative feelings and emotions. I am sure there are several courses out there, but I definitely recommend checking it out if you are noticing unwanted lines or wrinkles. PS. That is Danielle Collins in the photo.

Nasal Irrigation
According to the ‘Encyclopedia of Ailments and Diseases’ by Jacques Martel, nasal congestion comes along when we are feeling frustrated at someone or something, and can certainly make that ‘breathwork’ difficult. Nasal irrigations, either using a Netipot or making one of your own, with natural non-iodized salt diluted in water, are so much better than over-the-counter solutions.

Dry Brushing
Okay, so admittedly as I write, I have lost touch with this practice, but only because with all the moving these last few years I have lost contact with my body brush…regardless this is still a practice that is highly recommended for multiples of reasons and one that can also be used to stay mindfully attuned to our bodies. Definitely one to read up on.

Salt Baths
Sea Salt or Himalayan Salt is also a ‘must have’ in my home. Not only for the Nasal Irrigations and cooking, but also to use for energetic cleansing of myself and my home. When I feel energetically drained, I will put some in a bath or footbath, to rid myself of any negative energies. So too do I use Sea Salt to cleanse my home and personal spaces as well, which I prefer over ‘saging’.
Mind

Noticing Thought-Patterns
This goes along with ‘periodically checking-in’ with yourself, yet really focusing on what types of thoughts we are allowing our mind to wander to throughout the day and asking ourselves if they are truly aligned with what we desire or hindering the progress. Remember, thoughts create emotions that then create realities. It is important to focus on what we DO want rather than stagnate on what we DON’T.

Leaning Into Emotions
There are times when strong emotional surges surface (ie. anger, sadness, overhwelm), and it is in these moments that we definitely do not want to try and redirect them. Instead we want to ‘lean into them’, allowing them to be there and giving ourselves space and time to fully process them. As part of this, rather than focusing on the circumstance that may have triggered the emotion, we want to reflect at the emotion itself and try to dig deeper as to its origin.

Setting Intentions
Always something to do at the time of a New Moon for the month ahead, but also everyday when we wake up for the type of day we would like to have. Setting intentions is all about using ‘I AM’ or ‘I HAVE’ statements (as if we already have what it is we desire) and affirming it to ourselves. The key part of setting intentions is that we truly believe them and charge an emotion with them (again, imaginging that we already have them and feeling into what it feels like to have them.).

Happiness is...
This brought so much sense to the awakening journey for me and what it was all about. ‘Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony’, said Mahatma Ghandi and I could not agree more. It is so liberating when we don’t feel like we have to hold back when it comes to who we truly are and when we can just be ourselves. And so, if we are noticing people and situations leaving our lives, we may ask ourselves if this is actually helping us achieve greater states of happiness.

'Noticing What You Notice'
A key phrase I picked up from Mas Sajady and his 18-day Medihealing Program (there will be a post on him too!), but what this essentially means is to start noticing daily reality and what we may take as random coincidences from a new perspective. When we take the time to look closer at all that unfolds in our daily realities there are signs and synchronicities all around us, we just need to be open to them and willing to start connecting dots.

Mean what we Say & Do
With things moving at such a fast pace in our modern society, it is no surprise that much of what we say and do on a daily basis is done on ‘auto-pilot’, indicating states of non-presence. Whether greeting someone with a ‘How are you?’ and not waiting for the response or watching a YouTube video that we learned something from and not taking the time to click the ‘like’ button, it is usually in these smallest of interactions where we can learn to anchor in greater states of presence.

Fibs, Lies & White Lies
For me, these all go in the same bucket, as they are all done from a space of inauthenticity, and of course cause unnecessary karma to come back to us. No one likes being lied to, nor being told something that is not honest and truthful, and we must take accountability that when we do engage in this behavior it will invariably come back to us in one way or another; if not from the person we did it to, then from another.

Learning to Say 'No'
One of the most valuable lessons we can learn on the journey is to learn the art of saying ‘No’. Many times (and this goes along the lines of those ‘white lies’) we often agree to something that we don’t truly desire to do or be involved in. These are opportunities to go deeper within ourselves to find out why. Before saying ‘yes’ we do best to take a moment of pause and truly ask ourselves if we mean it or are just saying it for the sake of keeping ‘status quo’.

Stop, Drop and Give 33...
This is an exercise that takes Gratitude to the next level and gives a superboost in vibrational states. In times of stress, or even as a daily routine, I have used this practice to support me through stressful times and recenter. In one sittitng, either write or mentally count 33 things you are grateful that you DO have in that exact moment. Why 33? Not only because it is a master number, but it also requires more focus and time on a positive vibrational state. Highly recommend!

What is an Emotional Trigger?
Before discussing ’emotional triggers’, I think it is important to first make sure we have the same defintion of what they are as they are so often discussed these days, with so many varying perspectives of what we mean by them. For me, and the sake of any discussions I have regarding them, they are ANY influence that sparks an emotional and even physical fluctuation (whether POSITIVE OR NEGATIVE) inside of us.

Being Mindful of Emotional (and Physical) Triggers
Having defined what ‘Emotional Triggers’ are, the next thing to do is to be mindful of situations in our lives that provoke inner emotional or physical fluctuations (remember, whether POSITIVE or NEGATIVE). One would think positive fluctuations are good, yet not always the case. As the saying goes…‘what goes up, must come down’, and this is the case many times with would be positive emotions or feelings in our bodies. The key is to start paying attention to the external influences that cause these fluctuations, along with our inner emotional rollercoasters.

We are Spiritual Beings Having a Human Experience...
By paying attention to our emotional upswings and downswings, we begin to realize that our emotions are not who we truly are inside. They are simply states of being that are temporary. In fact, there is something far deeper within us that is constant and unwavering, able to observe the emotional fluctuations we experience as we journey through life. Ponder for a moment, who that ‘observer’ is. As is often said, ‘we are spiritual beings having a human experience…not the other way around’. The more we can note this difference, the more we are able to identify with this realer and more consistent side of ourselves.

What to do with Negative Emotional Triggers?
Well, first and foremost, a negative trigger indicates a negative frequency; and if we are to remember that we create realities through our frequencies, the first thing we want to do is PAUSE from moving forward and reflect on the situation or circumstance that has caused us to feel this way (so as not to recreate MORE of what we don’t want); so too helping us step back to see a higher perspective of what it is in fact trying to show us. Sometimes a negative emotion is due to a situation we attracted into our lives that was simply reflecting the attitude we went into the situation with, in the first place. At other times, it is there to show us we have outgrown a certain situation and are ready to move on. Pausing to reflect helps us get off the wheel of karmic circles and have more control as to how we navigate our lives.

How can 'Good' Emotional Triggers Be Bad?
We can become so codependent on outside circumstances that ‘when things are good, we feel good’ and ‘when things are bad, we feel bad’….easily having us on a roller coaster ride between these two extremes. When we so easily switch to feeling good based on an outside circumstance, chances are the authenticity of our feel good state can be easily taken away by the removal of that outside circumstance just as quickly. Is this true happiness? Is this true inner balance? I would say not. Many times, these are false-states of happiness that are temporarily masking unhappy states inside; providing us with short-term gains, yet long-term detriments. The more we run away from deeper issues inside of us, constantly in search of something outside of us to help us feel better, the worse we feel during the dips.

How can 'Bad' Emotional Triggers be Good?
There are times where we may feel an emotion that we may deem as ‘negative’, however its presence is there to serve as a guiding post away from a certain situation that is no longer in alignment with who we are or an opportunity to get to the root of old wounds. For example, we may feel anger come up when we aren’t able to express a certain aspect of ourselves; giving rise to the possibility that we may not be in the right setting to express our most authentic selves. Or jealousy when we know we are not living up to our fullest potential; giving rise to a need to start making some necessary changes in our lives. Certain situations may trigger up unwanted emotions that we have so often learned to ignore and bury further inside, rather than look into them deeper and finally heal them at their roots.
Soul

Power vs. Force
When we trust the universe and come from a state of knowing that it is supporting us each step of the way, we get into a ‘flow-state’ that has things seemingly falling into place, undoubtedly bringing in greater states of empowerment. On the flip-side, when we are in fear and not trusting that things will unfold at the right time in just the right way, our minds may get in the way, trying to force our will to make them happen, only to find that the same level of force we used comes back to us in turn. Probably one of the most critical lessons of the awakening journey, I definitely recommend David R. Hawkins book ‘Power vs. Force’.

Noticing Redflags
When we start ‘noticing what we notice’ and connecting dots, we may come across signs and synchronicities that are seemingly trying to show us there is a need for caution or to use more discernment; whether it be losing our keys/phone, taking the wrong turn, or a series of seemingly coincidental small accidents or scrapes. We do wise by ourselves to take note of these, and reflect deeper on what they are trying to show us. This comes quite timely as I had a neighbor yesterday realize that each one of her family members individually got minor scrapes or burns, definitely indicating something ‘fishy’ is going on.

7 Mirrors of Essene
Another ‘game-changer’ when I viewed Gregg Braden’s YouTube video ‘The 7 Essene Mirrors’. Oftentimes on the awakening journey we may misunderstand why a particular event has happened in our lives; left confused why someone or something that does not intrinsically reflect back who we are has shown up in our reality. Well, this video is one to watch as it goes over the 7 different ways relationships mirror back to us – direct reflections just being one of 7 mirrors.

Whirling
Whirling has been something I turn to most especially in times of intense fear and needing to focus my mind amidst challenges; a practice I picked up from listening to one of Barbara Marciniak’s Plaiedian channeled messages where she is quoted as saying ‘Another activity we recommend for those of you who wish to move into a vast acceleration of energy is spinning. Move from left to right, spinning around and focusing your vision on your thumb, counting and spinning. We recommend you spin 33 times at least once a day’. I later came to the realization this was one of the 5 Daily Tibetan Rites as well. Highly recommend checking it out and trying it for yourself.

5 Tibetan Rites
And on the topic of ‘whirling’ being one of the 5 Tibetan Rites, I also recommend checking out these 5 daily yogic practices that have reportedly been around for over 2500 years. Essentially a series of 5 relatively easy daily movements that promote spiritual, mental and emotional alignment, and include (1) Spinning, (2) Leg-lifts, (3) Back-bends, (4) Bridge-poses and (5) Downward Facing Dog into Upward Facing Dog. Once again, there are a number of articles and videos on YouTube to choose from; if you are looking for a good source to start with, here is one.

Binaural Beats
Binaural Beats have been a part of my daily protocols for a number of years now and if you haven’t incorporated them into yours, I highly recommend checking them out. Essentially a merging of two different frequencies played at once which then tricks the mind into a meditative state, there is so much to learn about the benefits of sound frequencies on our mental, spiritual and emotional states. There are literally tons of binaural beat compilations on YouTube, yet I do recommend being a bit ‘choosy’ as to the source of where you get them from. My ‘go-to’ channel has been ‘Meditative Mind’.
